TortoiseSVN problem with Windows 7
Mar 22nd
I noticed that using Windows 7 Tortoise SVN client often exits with an error message when trying to update/checkout files from the repository. The SVN checkout fails in that case. (And the system will perform a disk check at the next reboot)
This is caused by a bug in Windows 7 oplock file handling. Details can be found here.
Basically the error happens when another program tries to get a lock on the file while SVN is still doing the checkout – this can be Windows Indexer, Google Desktop, Backup Software, etc..
Microsoft released a hotfix for the issue – which should be included in Windows 7 SP1.
(Note that this hotfix replaces the previous KB 982927 hotfix the article above is linking to – and which doesn’t exist anymore)

DocCrawler 1.2.0 released
Mar 2nd
Today I released DocCrawler version 1.2.0. The update mainly addresses a problem that occurs when DocCrawler hits files you have no permission to read to. This is now handled.
Besides that the output got more detailed and formatted nicer – oh, and you might notice that there is also some performance improvement. A lot of code-cleanup and optimization has been done..
Go, get it at the DocCrawler Project page
DocCrawler 1.1.5 released
Feb 22nd
Finally I found the time to give the DocCrawler a space on this website. Although the tool is very simple it proved to be very useful to a lot of people in the past.
The DocCrawler is a small program that can scan a given directory (recursively) for new/modified or deleted files (since last scan). It is also possible to exlude one or more sub-directories inside that directory.
For more infos and a download link go straight to the DocCrawler page.
Never say never

Well, not long ago I thought there would be no more posts into this blog since Twitter made it obsolete. Turns out (as you can see) that I was wrong.
Although personal updates will not appear here anymore I will use this space to announce new projects or to give updates on continuing ones.
Everything is changing so fast these days – even my own opinion ![]()
This is the end..
Dec 7th
.. of my personal web blog. Well, back in the days when this blog first started it was like a must-have for techies.
For me this blog was always much more about creating the blog than creating the content. So over the years it went from plain HTML over a php web-interface over blogger.com to a wordpress installation on my own server. Wordpress is great! I love it! But it’s so.. finished. Nothing to do for me: new theme? Install it right from within the config page. Display flickr picture? Go, get the plugin.
So, the blog entries which have been available before at www.tobiasbischof.de found a new home in the blog section of the main site. But there is more to come:Â All my various publications will instead find a new common home here. Although it might take some time.. If you subscribe to the RSS feed above you can keep track of the changes.
Btw: I am now used to fit my thoughts into 140 characters – so if you are interested follow me on twitter using the link to the right.
